🌟 Saturday Clay Play: Get Messy, Get Creative, Make Together!

Swap screens for squishy clay this Saturday morning, and why not get your hands dirty too? Clay Play at Clay Talk, Montsalvat is a one-off, two-hour hand-building session for kids, teens and their grown-ups. No term commitment, no experience needed, just bring your curiosity (and clothes that don’t mind a bit of mess)!

🕙 Saturdays, 10:30am – 12:30pm | One-off session

👨‍👧 Bring a Grown-Up: Parent & Child Ticket

Clay Play is even better together! Book our discounted Parent & Child ticket and share a morning of making side by side. Siblings are welcome too, so bring the whole crew.

Our parent-and-child sessions are hugely popular, and it’s easy to see why. Kids love having a parent in the studio with them, and grown-ups love the chance to switch off, slow down and play again. It’s a rare couple of hours where nobody’s on a device, everyone’s focused on making, and you all go home with something you made together.

🖐️ Why Hands-On Matters More Than Ever

Today’s kids (and adults!) spend more time tapping, swiping and scrolling than ever before. Clay offers something screens can’t: the chance to slow down, get your hands dirty, and make something real. Squeezing, rolling, pinching and shaping clay builds fine motor skills, problem-solving and patience, and there’s something deeply calming about it. Working with clay helps kids and grown-ups alike to focus, unwind and feel grounded, supporting mental health and wellbeing in a world that’s always switched on. And nothing beats the pride of holding something you made with your own two hands!

🐉 What You’ll Do

  • Pinch, coil and slab your way through fun hand-building techniques
  • Create creatures, critters, little pots or whatever your imagination dreams up

Your Teacher

Meet the Clay Talk Teaching Team

Our Clay Play sessions are led by experienced, practising ceramic artists who love sharing the joy of clay with kids and families. Every teacher brings a minimum of five years' experience teaching children, holds a current Working With Children Check, and knows how to make a studio session feel relaxed, welcoming and loads of fun.

Our teachers are warm, patient and community-minded, with a knack for meeting every maker where they are. Whether your child is shy and trying clay for the first time or bursting with big ideas, they'll get the guidance and encouragement they need to create something they're proud of. Parents joining in get the same friendly support, so no one needs any experience at all.

Throughout the session, you'll learn the foundations of hand-building, including pinching, coiling and slab work, along with simple ways to add texture, pattern and decoration. Our teachers balance gentle instruction with plenty of freedom to play, so every piece that leaves the studio is uniquely yours.

Expect smiles and some laughs, a little mess, and a morning that's all about making together.
